This course starts with an overview of the software, including the new features of the updated version, and then moves into some of the specifics of the software and how to process photos. This free course will help you get started and give you that boost of inspiration and motivation you may need to get back to processing your photographs in Luminar.

What is Luminar?

Luminar is a powerful photo editing software by Skylum Software (formerly “Macphun”) that allows you to stylize, layer, mask, crop, retouch, and easily enhance your photos. It is created to be a one-stop photo editor but can also be used as a plugin from Lightroom, Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, and Aperture.

Here’s what you get:

This course was created to give new and experienced users a fresh and approachable look at Luminar. Here’s what to expect with this course:

  • Seven exclusive video lessons using Luminar 2018 (instructed by Nicole S. Young).

  • Practice images and presets to follow along with each video lesson (as applicable).

  • Become inspired as I showed my very own processing techniques for a variety of photographs.

  • … and more!

Yes! If you do not already own Luminar, you will want to download it first.

Yes! This new version of Luminar is the first to be available on both Mac and Windows. However, this course was created using the Mac version of Luminar, so Windows users may see some differences in regard to feature availability.

This course is for all users of Luminar, both beginners and advanced alike. While some of the content will be better suited for photographers new to Luminar, experienced users might also find the content informative. As an advanced photographer, I always find that I learn something, even if the content is familiar. Plus, it’s a free course, so what do you have to lose?

Luminar has many things to offer, and I plan on covering a wide variety of content. I will begin with the user interface and will go on to discuss working with presets, filters, workspaces, layers & blending, masking, and more.
