It’s tulip season! The flowers should be blooming mid-April, so I thought it would make a great spot for our next meetup.

Tickets:

You are responsible for obtaining your own tickets to the tulip festival. A day pass costs $5, or you can spend $15 to get there before sunrise.

Meetup spot:

Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm, 33814 S Meridian Rd, Woodburn, OR 97071

When you go through the ticket booth, don’t park in that parking lot. You’ll turn right and then left (at the building), and head to another parking area in the back. Go all the way to the end and meet up by the big EXIT signs.

I’ll be getting there very early (before sunrise), and it is probably going to be very busy when they first open. At 8:00am I’ll be by the EXIT signs to meet up if anyone else shows up. And if you do show up, I highly recommend you get to the fields early to avoid traffic!

Here’s the plan:

The official meetup time is 8:00am, but if you want to get there early and photograph sunrise, please feel free to do so! (You will need the “sunrise” or season pass to get into the fields one hour before it opens at 8:00am.) Then, at 8:00am, we’ll meet up near the entrance, do a group photo, and get out into the fields to with our cameras.

Camera Gear:

Bring whatever gear you are most comfortable with! I’ll likely bring a wide zoom, telephoto zoom, and also a macro lens, along with my tripod. This location allows for a wide variety of styles and focal lengths.

Other Notes:

  • There are other events happening at 8am on April 14, so I recommend you get there VERY EARLY. Purchase a “sunrise” pass online to make sure you beat the crowd and find parking.
  • Bring good boots! It will probably be muddy, especially if it has been raining.
